Sterling Advanced Futbol Club adds a premier competitive program to the legacy of Sterling House Soccer.
This club will provide an advanced level of training and competition to grow and strengthen the game of soccer in Stratford and the greater Bridgeport region. This club will develop and inspire young soccer players of all ages and backgrounds to bring their best to the game in all aspects; fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship, and game IQ. SAFC upholds the spirit of Sterling House and a dedication to positive youth and community development.

We are offering Full Year (Fall, Winter, Summer) or Seasonal Options for 2024, the final price point includes the following:
All League Fees
Player passes for league, tournaments & events
Soccer Kit (Uniform+)
Training twice a week
1-2 Games on the weekends
Total of 6-8 of games per season
Boys & Girls – Players from Stratford and surrounding towns may join:

Each team has 2 training sessions a week held on fields in Stratford
Games
SAFC is a part of a Competitive Soccer League
Home games are held on fields in Stratford
Away games are held on fields within a 30-60 mile radius of Stratford

Co-Founder & Coaching Director, George Longwa (left)
Co-founder of AST, George Longwa was born in Congo DR, Africa, and played for the pro club, Kalulushi Modern Stars (Junior Academy) from 1996-1999. At the age of 14, George moved to the United States, making Bridgeport his home. Upon graduating from Harding High School, George took his leadership skills and knowledge of the game to begin coaching and developing some of the top elite players in Fairfield County.
During his coaching career, George played on a Semi-Professional team where he competed regionally and nationally. George has developed players who have gone to play DI, DII, and DIII with full scholarships. He also trained players at the Academy and Professional levels, such as NYCFC, NY Redbulls, NE Revolution, the US National Team, and a player on the Women's National Team of Peru.

Co-Founder & Director of Player Development, Johnny Argueta (middle)
Co-Founder of AST, Johnny Argueta was born in Bridgeport, CT, and began his competitive soccer career at the age of 10. By the age of 14, he developed his skills and began playing at the Academy level with South Central Premier who was ranked 15th in the nation at the time. After graduating from Kolbe Cathedral High School, Johnny played Semi-Professional competing regionally and nationally. Johnny has a decade of premier coaching experience and is the Varsity Head Coach for Notre Dame High School of Fairfield, where in his second year of coaching, he led his team to the State Semi-Finals.

Director of Operations & League Administrator, Catherine Proto (right)
Catherine Proto began at SHCC three years ago as our Athletic Director and was promoted to Director of Operations in Spring 2022, prior to which she was the Athletic Director at Naugatuck YMCA. Catherine has 15 years of professional basketball coaching experience with the New York Liberty and the Connecticut Sun. She is an IAABO Board 9 certified basketball referee and a member of the Connecticut Women’s Officiating Coordinating Committee. She sits on the Parks and Recreation Committee for the Town of Stratford and is a member of the Stratford Rotary Club
